Relic placing ceremony put off due to protest

The Chief Incumbent of the Kurundi Temple in Kurudumalai, Mullaithivu Ven. Galgamve Santhabodhi Thera says that though the placing of the Sacred Relics of Lord Buddha at the Temple premises was scheduled to be held on 12 June, the event had to be temporarily postponed due to a protest being held. The event was set to take place at 2.05 p.m. on the said date with the Stupa of the Temple being renovated with the total sponsorship of the Bauddhaloka Foundation along with the support and supervision of the Ministry of Buddha Sasana, the Archeological Department and the involvement of soldiers from the Mullaithivu Security Forces Command and the Civil Defence Force. However, due to a demonstration staged opposite the Temple premises by politicians attached to the TNA and the Tamil National People’s Front (TNPF) the ceremony had been temporarily put off.
