Four individuals who had abducted and held a woman captive for ransom were arrested by the Puvarasankulam Police last morning (13).
The abductors had demanded a ransom of Rs.500,000 from the woman’s daughter, threatening that she was locked up in a house, and would be shot if the ransom was not paid.
Police later arrested the suspects under the pretext of directing the daughter to pay the ransom, taking the abducted woman too, into Police custody.
The suspects, aged between 26 and 49, identified as residents of Vavuniya, Kilinochchi and Mullaitivu are scheduled to be produced before the Vavuniya Magistrate’s Court today (14).
The Puvarasankulam Police is conducting further investigations.
