Sri Lanka will have to wait until the end of this year to obtain a loan from the International Monetary Fund (IMF), SJB MP Dr. Harsha de Silva says.
He said that a staff-level delegation would be in Sri Lanka tomorrow for talks and a staff-level agreement will be signed in a month or two.
He noted, however, that it was not possible to withdraw money from the agreement right away.
The nation-island is in talks with the IMF for a loan package to help navigate its worst economic crisis in seven decades.
