Army and Saracens advance to semis


Last year’s runner-up Army CC, who are unbeaten this season, and Saracens SC advanced to the semi-finals of the Major Club T20 Cricket Tournament, conducted by Sri Lanka Cricket yesterday.

Army CC beat Kalutara TC by 126 runs with Ashan Randika scoring 104 runs in 63 balls with 5 boundaries and 8 sixes. Ashan is the second centurion of the series so far.

Saracens SC beat Baduraliya CC by 24 runs, Navy SC beat Kurunegala YCC by 29 runs, Moors SC beat Bloomfield by 15 runs (D/L), SSC beat Lankan CC by 4 wickets and Ace Capital CC beat CCC by 6 wickets.

Army lead group ‘D’ points table with 6 wins (12 points), while Saracens SC lead group ‘A’ with 5 wins from 6 matches (10 points). Last year’s champion SSC won only 4 matches and couldn’t advance to the semi-final.

BRC and Panadura SC have 6 points each from 4 matches, but BRC lead according to NRR. Both teams have a match in hand and the winner will advance to the semi-final. BRC play NCC and Panadura clash with Chilaw Marians CC.

Unbeaten Colts CC lead group ‘C’ with 4 wins from 4 matches (8 points), while Tamil Union have 6 points from 4 matches. Colts CC will meet Tamil Union in their last first round match today (13).
