Colombo District Judge Poornima Paranagama yesterday (9) issued an enjoining order preventing the members of Ceylon Electricity Board Engineers’ Union (CEBEU) from disrupting the continuous supply of electricity to the public by engaging in trade union action for a fortnight, with effect from 9 June.
The order was issued on CEBEU Chairman Anil Ranjith Induwara and General Secretary Dhammika Wimalaratne, after taking into consideration a complaint lodged by the Ceylon Electricity Board.
The Judge also ordered the Registrar of the Court to convey her order via phone to the respondents concerned.
The Court also ordered to send the enjoining order and its notices to the concerned respondents and fixed further hearing of the case to 22 June.
When the case was taken up yesterday, President’s Counsel Romesh de Silva, with Attorneys-at-Law Ruwantha Cooray and Namiq Nafath instructed by Sanath Wijewardena appeared on behalf of the CEB.
