Only four Poson dansals so far in Colombo

The Public Health Department of the Colombo Municipal Council (PHD-CMC) said, it had registered only four dansals for the Poson season this year.

Chief Public Health Inspector, Kandula Wickramasinghe when contacted said yesterday (8), that to date registration had been given to only four dansals due to the current economic situation.

The fuel crisis, power cuts, exorbitant cost of dry rations and food have made it difficult for people to hold dansals on Posonpoya day, he said.

“We have registered rice and curry, tapioca, chick pea and a cool drink dansal so far,” he added.

He said however that the Department would focus on the hygienic preparation of the food item, serving, cleanliness of the place it is being held in, water being used for the preparation and cleaning would be looked into.
