Customs seize narco packs valued at Rs20M

Sri Lanka Customs Narcotics Control Division officials on surveillance duty at the Central Mail Exchange seized nine parcels containing narcotics worth nearly Rs 20 million.

The parcels were sent from Germany and the Netherlands to residents in Colombo and Mahiyangana. However, a subsequent search revealed the addresses were fake.

A total of 1985 ecstasy pills were found in the parcels. The total weight of the drugs that were seized was 1.116 Kg.

The market value of the seized drugs was estimated to be close to Rs 20 million. The arrest was made with the assistance of the officers of the Postal Department.
