A breathtaking unbeaten 119 from Cameron Green set up Australia ‘A’s comfortable 7-wicket win over Sri Lanka ‘A’ in the first unofficial ODI at the SSC yesterday.

Put into bat first, Sri Lanka had a shaky start to their innings as they lost opener Lasith Croospulle (2) in the second ball to put early pressure on the team.

Despite a shaky start, in form Oshada Fernando together with Kamindu Mendis revived the innings with a brilliant 87-run partnership for the second wicket. The duo smashed the Aussie bowlers all over the park to take the momentum onto their side.

Opener Oshada went on to score 65 runs off 82 deliveries including 7 boundaries, while Kamindu scored a fighting 42 off 47 deliveries. Matthew Kuhnemann got the breakthrough when he sent Kamindu back to the pavilion in the 17th over.

Skipper Dhananjaya de Silva joined Oshada at the fall of the second wicket, and the duo were involved in a 44-run partnership for the third wicket until Oshada was caught off Told Murphy’s bowling in the 26th over.

From there onwards the batters were contained, but skipper Dhananjaya de Silva led from the front with a captain’s knock of 68 runs off 70 balls to help his team post a challenging 297-7 in their allotted 50 overs. Ashen Bandara also chipped in with a valuable 48 runs from down the order.

In reply, Australia ‘A’ were too good for the Sri Lanka bowlers as they achieved the target with 14 balls to spare.

Cameron Green was the hero with a match winning 119* runs off 111 deliveries including 9 boundaries and 3 sixes. Apart from Cameron, Matt Renshaw and skipper Alex Carey chipped in with valuable knocks as they romped home to an easy win.
