Schools’ U-19 rugby kicks off on 24 June

The much-awaited Dialog Interschools Rugby League Tournament will kick off with the match between defending league champions Royal College and St. Anthony’s College Kandy at Royal Complex on 24 June.

Sri Lanka Schools Rugby Football Association (SLSRFA) confirmed and released the official match schedule on Monday after their Council met on Saturday.

Schools’ rugby came to halt in 2020 due to Covid-19, and the game will be returning after nearly two years, and the tournament is going to be an open contest for this reason.

According to SLSRFA, all groundwork has been finalised to conduct the tournament smoothly. Dialog will once again be the main sponsor.

There are concerns organising the junior tournaments – U-12, U-14 and U-16 – due to financial issues, but SLSRFA stated most likely the U-12 and 14 can be worked off, but it was doubtful whether the U-16 competition will take place.
