Ranjan gets 2-year RI in second contempt case

The Supreme Court yesterday (7), imposed two-year Rigorous Imprisonment on former MP Ranjan Ramanayake, suspended for five years, in the second Contempt of Court case filed against him.

The Order was made by the three-Judge Bench comprising SC Justices Buwaneka Aluvihare, L. T. B. Dehideniya, and Gamini Amarasekera.

The Attorney General filed the second Contempt of Court case against Ramanayake over a controversial statement he made regarding the composition of the Supreme Court Bench where he was found guilty.

Ramanayake was previously imposed Rigorous Imprisonment on charges of another contempt of court case, which he is currently serving.
