Differently-abled villagers of Sorikkalamunai get dry rations from Canada

A Sri Lankan philanthropist living in Canada has donated dry rations to differently-abled villagers of Sorikkalamunai which comes under the purview of the Navithanveli Pradeshiya Sabha as they were living a miserable life due to the present economic crisis.

The assistance was made through the Ayesha Foundation on the initiative taken by the Karaithivu Pradeshiya Sabha Chairman and a social worker, Kirushnapillai Jeyasiril. The dry rations were handed over at a simple ceremony presided over by the President of the differently-abled Foundation of  Sorikkalmunai T.Anushiya. Nearly 75 differently-abled persons in Sorikkalmaunai were given a package of dry rations. Social worker and journalist, V.T.Sagadewaraja also assisted the project.

Jeyasiril  in an appeal to philanthropists living in Canada, the UK, France, Australia and Arab Countries  called on them to extend a helping hand to the down-trodden living in the remote areas of Ampara District. He also suggested that monies spent lavishly on weddings, birthday parties and other get-togethers’ could be reduced and a portion of the money used to wipe out the sufferings of the poor in this part of Sri Lanka.
