The GotaGoGama protest, in front of the Presidential Secretariat, continues for the 60th day, today (7). The protesters continue their efforts, demanding the President to resign. The protest started on 9 April and has been continuing daily, despite adverse weather and the 9 May ‘Black Monday’ attacks on the protest site.
Protesters blame the Government for the mismanaging the economy, which has caused a hike in the prices of goods and the country’s reserves being reduced to a record low level. A persistent shortage of foreign currency and soaring inflation has led to a severe shortage of medicines, fuel and other essentials.
