Wild elephant’s leg treated

The Eastern Wildlife Health Unit treated a wild elephant with a infected foreleg at the Gal Oya National Park.

The Nilgala Site Office notified the Eastern Wildlife Health Unit of an elephant that has been immobilised for several days. A team of officers led by Eastern Wildlife Health Unit Veterinarian Nihal Pushpa Kumara treated the elephant. According to Kumara, a veterinarian at the Eastern Wildlife Health Unit, the elephant’s right front leg was swollen and was treated.
