CTTU seeks concessions

The Ceylon Tamil Teachers Union (CTTU) expressed concern that functioning of schools five days a week was a major issue in the current situation, due to the fuel crisis that has severely impacted the country today.

CTTU General Secretary S. Buvaneshvaran said they had written to Education Minister Susil Premajayantha outlining the difficulties teachers were facing reporting to school due to fuel prices.

He expressed concern that if this situation persists, they would be forced to spend a large sum of money on fuel, negatively impacting their overall living conditions.

Buvaneshvaran requested education authorities to provide concessions to teachers, taking the situation into account.
