LPBOA to pull out services on 6 June

The Lanka Private Bus Owners’ Association (LPBOA) has decided to withdraw services from 6 June as no proper measures have been taken to provide adequate diesel for buses.

LPBOA Chairman Gemunu Wijerathne said that so far buses operated to avoid any inconvenience for students who sat for the Ordinary Level examination.

He said the bus owners have to stand in queues for days to refuel their buses. Although it is stated that fuel would be issued from the Sri Lanka Transport Board depots, no formal programme had been put in place.

“If the Government does not give priority to providing diesel to passenger buses this week, buses will be completely phased out from Monday,” Wijerathne said
