Indian security nabs family of three from Colombo


Indian security authorities apprehended a family of three from Colombo when they entered the Dhanushkodi Gothandramar seas off the coast of India on 1 June.

According to reports, the mother, father, and 10-year-old son landed in Mannar, Pesalai District from Colombo and used a fishing vessel to travel to India from the Pesalai beach.

Since 22 March, more than 100 people have escaped to India along the northern shore, with 96 seeking sanctuary in the country, according to Indian security services. In the previous two months, the Navy has detained over 150 people attempting to enter India by sea.
