Former MP Duminda Silva, who had been admitted to the Sri Jayewardenepura Hospital and was subsequently taken into custody by the CID, was placed under the care of Prison Guards yesterday.
Prisons Media Spokesman Chandana Ekanayake said, Silva will continue to be treated at the hospital under strict security.
On an order issued by the Supreme Court early this week the CID arrested Silva on 1 June whilst he was in Hospital.
The CID handed over Silva into the custody of the Prisons Department.
Silva who was on death row after being convicted over the murder of former MP Bharatha Lakshman Premachandra, received a presidential pardon, but the late MPs wife and daughter had challenged the granting of a presidential pardon to Silva, before the Supreme Court.
The Apex Court, having perused the petition challenging Silva’s presidential pardon, ordered the CID to arrest him.
