The Gampaha High Court is scheduled to deliver the verdict on the further maintenance or not, of State funds misappropriation case filed against former Minister of Finance, Basil Rajapaksa and businessman Thiru Nadesan, today (3).
Rajapaksa and Nadesan have been indicted on three counts before the Gampaha High Court on charges of misappropriating State funds, over the purchase of a 16-acre land in Malwana in Dompe, after which a luxury house had been built, whilst maintaining a swimming pool and a farmhouse on it.
The Gampaha High Court was earlier slated to announce its decision of whether to continue with the trial or not on 13 May, before Judge Nimal Ranaweera, but the Court ordered to deliver it today.
Due to the prevalent situation in the country at the time, the accused being indisposed and due to Counsels for Nadesan having informed that their client will not be present in Court, the latter ordered to defer the proceedings of the trial for today.
