The Port of Colombo is presently playing a crucial role in carrying out transshipment and domestic container operations without any hindrance, Sri Lanka Ports Authority (SLPA) Chairman, Dr. Prasantha Jayamanna said on Tuesday (31).
Speaking at a special Media briefing at Colombo Port, he said the prompt action taken by the Management of the Sri Lanka Ports Authority, the support of all executives and port trade union leaders, all employees, as well as the collaborative support of CEOs of the other terminals at the Port of Colombo (POC) has created a facilitative space and a conducive environment for efficient container operations to prevent adverse consequences during the crisis.
“Despite baseless and adverse allegations by several international Media outlets on the operational delays of the Port of Colombo (POC), all vessel operations at berths including TEU vessel operations, conventional cargo operations, and inter-terminal operations are taking place as usual.
All port users and shipping agents of the POC have been assured with the expected efficiency and productivity. We are committed to sustaining the crucial role of the Port of Colombo as a Regional Transshipment Hub,” the SLPA Chairman said.
