Chairman of the Civil Aviation Authority of Sri Lanka (CAASL), Upul Dharmadasa met the Secretary-General of the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO), Juan Carlos Salazar Gómez at ICAO Headquarters in Montreal, Canada on 1 June.
During this discussion, the Chairman handed over the letter of Minister of Ports, Shipping, and Aviation Services Nimal Siripala de Silva and the proposal on a mechanism to employ the aviation workforce in Sri Lanka in ICAO Member States which was proposed by the National Coordinator of NGAP-SL, Gimhan Dabarera.
The Personal Advisor to the ICAO Secretary-General said the discussion was very fruitful and the CAASL Chairman requested technical support to develop the Sri Lankan aviation industry.
The Secretary-General referred the Chairman to the ICAO Technical Committee and the CAASL may qualify for free aviation training programmes conducted by the ICAO in the future.
