Governor Yahampath orders cut back on expenses


Eastern Province Governor Anuradha Yahampath has directed that the expenses of the Eastern Provincial Council be reduced with immediate effect, until the country’s present economic crisis is resolved.

According to Governor Yahampath, the present economic crisis has severely impacted everyday life of people in this country, and people in the East are facing the same issue.

During this crisis, the Governor has announced that fund allocations will be made to all institutions that fall under the purview of the Eastern Provincial Council only for the purpose of providing essential services.

She has directed officials from relevant institutions to use the funds sparingly, so that everyone in the province benefits, bearing in mind the country’s dire situation.

The Governor also directed the suspension of special events, invitation printing, unnecessary transportation, and the purchase of new goods, as well as the implementation of non-essential projects and construction work that had not yet been initiated, despite having been previously planned and assessed.
