Water levels rise in Castlereagh, Maussakelle reservoirs


Water levels in the Castlereagh and Maussakelle reservoirs are rapidly rising due to heavy rains on the Western slopes of the Central Highlands these days, Reservoir officials said.

According to the official, the water level in Castlereagh Reservoir is presently 11 feet and 5 inches below the overflow level, while Maussakelle Reservoir is 47 feet and 3 inches full due to rains in these areas.

He also said the water from these reservoirs will be used to generate hydropower at the Wimalasurendra, Canyon, Laxapana, and New Laxapana power plants.
