Verdict on Prasanna’s extortion case in June

The verdict of the case filed against Minister Prasanna Ranatunga and several others in connection with the alleged extortion of Rs. 64 million by threatening a businessman will be announced in June.

Colombo High Court Judge Manjula Tilakaratne said the verdict will be pronounced on 6 June.

The then Attorney General filed indictments against Minister Prasanna Ranatunga, his wife and another individual for committing the aforementioned offences between 6 April 2015 and 2 June 2015.

The Court has decided to proceed with the case in the absence of the third accused, Naresh Kumar Fareek, who has reportedly fled the country.
