Minister Susil Premajayantha said, to improve the quality of education, focus should be made to implement methods that improve efficiency and establish effective coordination among the departments, institutions, service divisions, branches and units under the purview of the Ministry.
The Minister said high quality education is measured not by performance of children alone. The quality of teachers’ accountability in their role as teachers should always be at the optimum level for a high quality education system in a country, he added.
The Minister was addressing the staff of the Ministry of Education and the National Institute of Education in Maharagama, with regard to enhancing the performance of the educational sector and to resolve the issues of children whose education had been grossly affected owing to the current economic crisis.
Nihal Ranasinghe, Education Secretary, Upali Sedara, Secretary of State for Education, Prof. Gunapala Nanayakkara, Sunil Jayantha Navaratne, Director General of the National Institute of Education and several professionals in the field participated in the programme.
