Colombo Chief Magistrate Nandana Amarasinghe yesterday (30), postponed consideration of the bail application filed by Shashi Weerawansa over the fake passport case.
The application will be taken up today (31).
The bail application was filed by Weerawansa on 27 May, after the Colombo Chief Magistrate’s Court imposed a two-year-rigorous imprisonment and a fine of Rs 100,000 on finding Weerawansa guilty of submitting forged documents to the Department of Immigration and Emigration and fraudulently obtaining two passports including a diplomatic passport. Accordingly Weerawansa was produced before Courts from Prison yesterday (30) when the application was due to be taken up.
