June fuel imports to cost USD 554M


Minister of Power and Energy, Kanchana Wijesekara met Governor of the Central Bank of Sri Lanka (CBSL) Dr. Nandalal Weerasinghe yesterday (30) morning, to discuss the Ceylon Petroleum Corporation’s (CPC) foreign exchange requirements for June, to import fuel.

He said, the total requirement for June imports will be USD 554 million, of which USD 100 million will be facilitated through the existing Indian Credit Line.

He also noted that a new USD 500 million Indian Credit Line facility was discussed at the meeting.

Wijesekara said as of 12 noon yesterday (30), Sri Lanka had 14,433 MT of diesel, 58 MT of super diesel, 41,975 MTof 92 octane petrol, 14,041 MTof 95 octane petrol and 1,621 MTof Jet fuel.
