Technical issue reported at Sapugaskanda

A minor technical issue was reported at the Sapugaskanda Oil Refinery this afternoon (30).

The refinery, which wasn’t in operation for nearly three months, was scheduled to commence operations today.

Minister of Energy Kanchana Wijesekera assured, however, that the technical staff of the Ceylon Petroleum Corporation (CPC) were working on fixing the issue to restart the refinery.

The refinery suspended operations on 20 March due to a lack of crude oil, however, following the procurement of a consignment of Russian oi, the refinery is due to produce fuel in six days.
