Director General of Excise M. J. Gunasiri said the standard quality of liquor sold in Sri Lanka will be made public this week.
He noted there was no standard in the liquor sold in Sri Lanka until nowand different liquor shops across the island followed different standards.
He also said the quality standards that should be followed when producing liquor were communicated to all liquor companies in the island last week.
Gunasiri also said the standard was developed in collaboration with the Excise Department, the Government Analyst, and the Sri Lanka Standard Institute.
He said once the standard is informed and publicised, the Excise Department will conduct raids to apprehend those who violate the rules.
As a result, the final SLS circular pertaining to liquor products will be made public this week.
