HRCSL to summon MR over 9 May attacks


The Human Rights Commission of Sri Lanka (HRCSL) has decided to summon former Prime Minister Mahinda Rajapaksa to record a statement about the 9 May attacks on protesters who were demanding his and President Gotabaya Rajapaksa’s resignations at GotaGoGama and MynaGoGama.

HRCSL said they have summoned former Ministers Johnston Fernando, Namal Rajapaksa, and incumbent Minister Dr. Ramesh Pathirana, in addition to Mahinda Rajapaksa, on 1 June.

A senior officer in HRCSL told Ceylon Today the IGP and Senior DIG in charge of Western Province Deshabandu Tennakoon will also be called before the commission next 4 June.
