Laugfs Gas, which suspended operations for several months owing to the inability to open Letters of Credit (LCs), will resume distribution within the next six days.
Chairman of Laugfs Gas K.H. Wegapitiya said, the company was able to open the LCs. As a result, Laugfs will be able to distribute gas to the local market.
Because of the issues in opening LCs due to the lack of US dollars, the gas supplier had to suspend distribution for an extended period of time. The hiatus had a significant impact on customers. Currently, there is a gas shortage in Sri Lanka.
Meanwhile, Litro Gas Lanka stated that a shipment of 3,500 MT of gas scheduled to arrive in Sri Lanka yesterday (26) will be delayed by two days, holding up distribution by another two days.
Litro requested the public not to queue for gas today(27) and tomorrow(28).
