Fuel crisis has violated human rights – HRCSL

The Human Rights Commission of Sri Lanka (HRCSL) has identified violations of human rights as a result of the ongoing fuel and gas crisis, asserting that the shortages have disrupted normal life.

The commission has summoned officials of the Ministry of Energy, Ceylon Petroleum Corporation and the Public Utilities Commission of Sri Lanka to examine the solutions taken at the institutional level to resolve the shortages of fuel and gas and people standing in long queues.

Officials were instructed to formulate a suitable methodology to control these issues and to expedite the steps taken to resolve them while considering it a matter of urgency.
