Two Easter attacks suspects enlarged on bail

Colombo High Court Judge Navaratne Marasinghe yesterday (25), granted bail to two individuals including businessman Mohomed Ibrahim, father of Easter Sunday suicide bombers Insaf Ahamed and Ilham Ahamed.

Ibrahim and his son Ibrahim Hejaaz, who had been detained for over three years were enlarged on two cash bail of
Rs 200,000 each and three surety bails of Rs 1 million each while imposing travel bans on the accused and ordering to hand over their passports to Court.

Further, they were ordered to appear before the CID on the first and last Sunday of every month.

Bail was granted considering the fact that the first accused (Mohomed Ibrahim) has to undergo eye surgery and as the second accused (Ibrahim Hejaaz) is a father of three whilst the Judge observed that there was insufficient reason to grant bail to the third accused.

The preliminary hearing against the accused will commence on 30 June and Deputy Solicitor General Lakmini Girihagama appeared on behalf of the Attorney General.

Indictments were filed by the Attorney General against the accused for concealing information with regard to the Easter Sunday attacks.
