Peterite Champions win by 7 wickets

The newly formed Peterite Champions team captained by Ranmo Martinez played their inaugural match against Legends of Richmond at the Arons County Club Horana recently, and won by 7 wickets.

After restricting Legends of Richmond to 123/9 in their 25 overs, Peterite Champions achieved their target for the loss of 3 wickets with 3 overs to spare.

Lasantha de Silva (22) and Asoka Sirimanne (21) gave Legends of Richmond a fine start, but with their dismissal wickets fell at regular intervals, and it was left to middle order batters C.K. Hewamanna (34) and Saman (27) to push them to a reasonable total. Indika was the pick of the bowlers capturing 3 scalps, while Ranmo Martinez and Niranjan Dabare claimed one wicket each.

Peterite Champions openers Damian Tissaratchy and Indunil Anthony got the scoreboard ticking right from the start. Damian Tissaratchy was forced to retire after stroking a splendid 29 runs. Three wickets then fell cheaply, but Susan Bandara (26*) joined Indunil Anthony (32*) and the pair were involved in an unbroken partnership to guide the Peterites home. Asoka Sirimanne and C.K. Hewamanna shared the bowling honors.
