The Police has arrested a total of 1,708 people have been arrested in connection with the 9 May unrest and violence across the island.
Police Spokesman SSP Nihal Thalduwa said 852 complaints had been filed so far about the incidents.
He said that 900 people have been released on bail in connection with the 9 May incidents, while 751 have been placed in remand custody.
He noted that 900 individuals have thus far been released on bail over the incidents on the 9th of May while 751 individuals have been placed in remand custody.
SSP Thalduwa said that investigations into the unrest are currently being conducted by the Criminal Investigation Department (CID), Police Stations, and special investigation units.
He also stated that the CID has apprehended 25 suspects.
