43 pigeons killed in Jaffna blaze

At least 43 pigeons were killed in Jaffna’s Kottadi area on 22 May, after a group of people set fire to a pigeon seller’s cages with kerosene and petrol.

The trader who lost his pigeons lodged a complaint at the Jaffna Police, who said keeping and selling pigeons or other animals without a licence is illegal, and the law should be enforced against him as well.

The Jaffna Police have taken steps to arrest those who set fire to the pigeon cages.
