Retired Maj. Gen. Jagath Alwis has denied recent reports claiming that he resigned from his post as the Secretary to the Ministry of Public Security.
Speaking to Ceylon Today, Alwis confirmed that he has not submitted a letter of resignation adding that he has not been requested to resign either.
“Generally, as soon as a new minister is elected, the secretary is also changed. If this is the case, I am ready to resign from the post. Otherwise, I have not submitted my resignation letter to anyone so far,” he said in this regard.
Meanwhile, Alwis had recorded a statement for nearly nine hours at the Criminal Investigations Department (CID) this morning (23), after being summoned for questioning with regards to the violence that transpired on 09 May near Galle Face and Temple Trees.
