GoSL has to repay Rs 89B maturing T Bills by Friday


Central Bank of Sri Lanka (CBSL), on behalf of the Government of Sri Lanka (GoSL) will have to repay the market Rs 88,720 million worth of maturing Treasury (T) Bills by the coming Friday (27 May).

Their splits are 91-day maturities Rs 77,393 million; 182-day maturities, Rs 10.407 million and 364-day maturities Rs 920 million, respectively. However, maturing T Bills in CBSL’s possession, which will also have to be repaid by the coming Friday are unknown, as CBSL doesn’t make privy such information.

In this connection, CBSL on Friday announced that it will sell Rs 90,000 million T Bills on the coming Wednesday, in splits of Rs 45,000 million of 364-day maturity and Rs 22,500 million, each of 182 and 364-days respectively, to repay such maturities. Settlement of this sale by auction will be on the coming Friday.
