The frequency of SLTB buses including ‘Sisu Sariya’ would be increased for the benefit of students sitting for the GCE O/L examination this year.
Chairman of the Sri Lanka Transport Board Kingsley Ranawaka said the SLTB has been directed to provide fuel for vehicles transporting ‘examination staff’ to respective examination centres.
He said though the fleet of buses would not be increased, frequency of the buses plying to and fro would be increased. He also said arrangements have been made for the convenience of those students who used to travel by train to make use of the bus services in operation as an alternative.
Deputy General Manager of Railways V. S. Polwattage said the regular train schedule for school children would continue to operate during the period of the examination as well.
He advised that students should take the earlier train rather than the last train, to be present at the respective examination centres on time. He assured that when there are delays to rail services the routine express trains would stop at additional railway stations.
