Steps have been taken to supply fuel for vehicles of Parliamentarians at the Police Transport Division’s petrol station in Narahenpita during Parliament Sitting days.
The IGP’s Office has advised that for a limited time, fuel should be distributed to MPs from the Police Fuel Station until the fuel shortage is resolved.
Minister of Power and Energy Kanchana Wijesekara confirmed that the Ceylon Petroleum Corporation (CPC) will refuel MPs’ vehicles at the Police Transport Division, and a CPC employee will be assigned to the relevant filling station for billing.
The IGP’s Office also instructed MPs to be present in their vehicles at the time of refuelling and that fuel can only be purchased for cash.
Police Spokesman SSP Nihal Thalduwa said, the measure has been taken considering the safety of MPs.
