PM demands immediate explanation from LITRO Chairman

Prime Minister Ranil Wickremesinghe has instructed Vijitha Herath, Chairman of LITRO Gas Lanka, to provide an explanation as to why the shipments of Liquefied Petroleum (LP) Gas are yet to be unloaded.

Taking to Twitter, the Premier noted that the shipment of LP Gas is yet to be unloaded, despite assurances by LITRO that it would be unloaded yesterday (18).

“I have instructed the Chairman to provide an immediate explanation”, he said, adding that the Committee on Public Enterprises (COPE) has also been requested to summon the officials of LITRO.

LITRO Chairman Vijitha Herath previously noted, however, that the unloading of the LP Gas is being delayed due to inclement weather and rough seas.

Sri Lanka received another shipment carrying nearly 3,500 metric tonnes of LP Gas today, while two more shipments, also carrying approximately 3,500 metric tonnes of LP Gas each, are due to arrive within the coming week.
