Minister of Energy Kanchana Wijesekera yesterday (18) said, though the distribution of petrol is slated to commence from 20 May, it will take at least three days for it to reach fuel stations islandwide.
Hence, taking this development into consideration, the Minister advised the public not to waste time and energy lining up at fuel stations.
Meanwhile, the acute petrol shortage reached crisis point throughout the country, and it was reported that many vehicles had stalled from the lack of fuel in many areas yesterday.
However, the public continued to line up at fuel stations in many parts of the country despite instructions given by the subject Minister.
