LPBOA urges steady supply of fuel

The Lanka Private Bus Owners’ Association (LPBOA) warned that if private buses are not provided with a steady supply of fuel, like the SLTB buses, they will not be able to operate from next week thus crippling the private sector.  Chairman of the Association, Gemunu Wijeratne said 90 per cent of the private buses were not in operation since yesterday (16).

He also said many private buses were halted in several areas without fuel to operate and drivers were spending time standing in queues at fuel stations.

Meanwhile, it was observed that many passengers were distressed due to the lack of buses as they had to spend hours at bus stations and halts.
