Prime Minister Ranil Wickremesinghe says he has not attended any party meetings of the opposition or the ruling party.

Addressing the House today (17), he said “I am still standing at the entrance of the bridge and I am unsure on which side of it I stand as of now.”

Commenting on the vote that took place to elect a new Deputy Speaker, the Prime Minister said he would have liked for a female Parliamentarian to have been appointed to the post.

He added that he did not attend any party meetings held regarding the election of a candidate for the said post, therefore, should not be blamed for the appointment.
