Opposition Leader Sajith Premadasa alleged the ruling party has launched an operation to extort money from various local and foreign groups to exploit Opposition MPs.
Addressing the media on 15 May at the Opposition Leader’s Office Premadasa said, although the Government should rebuild the country at a time when it is on the verge of collapse, they are carrying out an operation to recruit politicians from various parties.
“Opposition MPs will not be caught in this operation by the Government. The ruling party is trying to buy Opposition MPs by offering them dollars. If they feel about the country, the Govt should use the money for basic needs of the people instead of allocating dollars to benefit Members of Parliament,” he said.
He further emphasised that no Opposition MP will fall for such schemes.
