Explosives discovered

Manipay Police yesterday (16) said they had recovered explosives from a Palmyrah forest area in Sandilipay, Jaffna. They added that some young men, who went to gather fresh toddy palm fruits from the nearby Palmyrah forest, discovered the explosives and informed them.

A team of Manipay Police officers rushed to the location after receiving approval from the Court and recovered the explosives. One live hand grenade, one landmine, and some bullets were found. Following the discovery of these explosives, the Manipay Police conducted a thorough search of the surrounding areas in the belief that more explosives were dumped or discarded.
