Magistrate fixes 13 June for hearing


Colombo Chief Magistrate Nandana Amerasinghe yesterday (12), fixed 13 June to take up a complaint filed by the Police, in connection with the inconvenience caused to the public due to the continuance of the GotaGoGama protest site, in front of the Presidential Secretariat.

The Chief Magistrate stated that what had transpired with regard to the said protest site, had already taken place on 9 May and noted that as there was no urgency to convene the hearing.

The lawyers for the respondents, an employee attached to the Galadari Hotel and another person, stated that their clients via affidavits, had maintained that them being named as witnesses by the Police were false and erroneous.

The lawyers stated that their clients had at no stage provided any statements to the Police.
