Trade union action suspended, public services return to normalcy


All trade union actions were halted at 07:00 am today (12), and all public services returned to normalcy, the Trade Union Coordinating Centre (TUCC) announced.

Over 1,000 trade unions launched a continuous strike action on Monday (09), demanding the resignation of the current administration.

The Ceylon Electricity Board (CEB) Joint Trade Union Alliance, trade unions affiliated with the health sector, teacher-principal trade unions, the Station Masters’ Union and the Sri Lanka Administrative Service Association (SASA) were amongst the host of trade unions that joined the collective strike.
