NTUC threatens to storm President’s House

Co-Convener of the National Trade Union Centre (NTUC) Wasantha Samarasinghe warned that beginning tomorrow (13) they will take action to storm the President’s House in Fort, to force him to resign.

Samarasinghe said, they had decided to postpone the ongoing trade union strike after considering the country’s and its people’s plight.

He said, they had decided to put the strike on hold for the time being due to the impact it would have on the people at a critical juncture in the country’s economic and political history.

He also remarked that a procession led by the NTUC will march towards the President’s House on 13 May and added that a continuous demonstration will be staged at the site till he resigns.
