No more private buses for political use

Private bus associations have agreed to refrain from releasing their buses for political purposes.

General Secretary of the All Ceylon Private Bus Federation Anjana Priyanjith acknowledged that private bus owners provide their buses for events such as protests, rallies, and other political events in exchange for a rent/fee, while some provide their buses due to personal reasons. However, he said that buses will not be used for political activities in the future for any reason.

More than 20 buses, in and around Colombo, were set ablaze by mobs following the attacks on the Galle Face GotaGoGama and Temple Trees MynaGoGama protests.
