Fuel distribution will be resumed today after being temporarily suspended from 9 May due to the conflict that engulfed the country.
Lanka IOC and Ceylon Petroleum Corporation (CPC) temporarily halted fuel distribution due to the imposition of islandwide curfew, President of the Sri Lanka Petroleum Private Tanker Owners’ Association Kusum Sandanayaka said yesterday (11).
He also said no Government statement had been issued regarding this situation due to the country’s numerous problems.
Reports said two fuel tankers are scheduled to arrive in Sri Lanka in the coming days, and the management of those ships has become a problem due to the country’s present chaos.
Meanwhile, it was reported that security clearance to release fuel bowsers and resume fuel distribution had been given after 2:00 p.m.
Permission was granted for fuel distribution to the Sri Lanka Transport Board (SLTB), the Railways Department, Sri Lanka Ports Authority, and to the Security Forces guarded by security personnel.
